Jahrhundert)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Zwischen dem sp\u00e4ten 17. und der Mitte des 18. Jahrhunderts wurde der Indische Ozean zu einem Zentrum globaler Handels- und Machtkonflikte. Europ\u00e4ische Staaten wie England, Frankreich, die Niederlande und Portugal konkurrierten um den Zugang zu den reichen Handelsg\u00fctern Asiens \u2013 insbesondere Gew\u00fcrze, Edelsteine, Textilien und sp\u00e4ter auch Sklaven. Diese Auseinandersetzungen bot Piraten ideale Bedingungen: schwach gesch\u00fctzte Handelsrouten, wenig kontrollierte K\u00fcsten und koloniale Machtk\u00e4mpfe.<\/p>\n<p>Viele Piraten verlegten ihr Wirken nach dem R\u00fcckgang der Karibikpiraterie in den Indischen Ozean. Dort nutzten sie Inseln wie Madagaskar, Mauritius und R\u00e9union als R\u00fcckzugsorte, Versorgungsstationen und Handelspl\u00e4tze. Einige Piraten lebten zeitweise in enger Verbindung mit der einheimischen Bev\u00f6lkerung und trieben selbst Handel \u2013 auch mit Sklaven.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"details-image aligncenter\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/wycoticu.cyon.site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/shippng.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"570\" height=\"396\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Gleichzeitig bauten europ\u00e4ische Handelskompanien wie die Britische und Niederl\u00e4ndische Ostindien-Kompanie ihre Macht aus. Sie errichteten St\u00fctzpunkte und Kolonien entlang wichtiger K\u00fcsten, was ihnen nicht nur wirtschaftliche Vorteile, sondern auch milit\u00e4rische Kontrolle brachte. Diese Entwicklung f\u00fchrte dazu, dass Piraten zunehmend bek\u00e4mpft und aus der Region verdr\u00e4ngt wurden.<\/p>\n<p>Die Piraterie im Indischen Ozean war eng mit Kolonialismus, globalem Handel und Sklaverei verbunden. Bis zur Mitte des 18.
